New VSI Board Member Brings Broad Leadership Skills


Dale Marrant recently joined VSI's Board of Directors.
Dale Marrant, PhD., has joined the board of directors for Vocational Services, Inc. (VSI), which provides employment and other opportunities for people with disabilities in Clay and Platte counties.

A resident of Excelsior Springs, Marrant is vice president of Human Resources and Organizational Development at Cleveland University-Kansas City, reporting directly to the president and serving as a member of the institution’s President’s Council. He has led multiple accreditation studies at the university during his tenure and serves as adjunct instructor at both Baker University and Avila University in the Kansas City Metropolitan area.

“I am seeking to use my experience to help advance organizations doing valuable work to improve the lives of others,” Marrant said, noting that VSI has many outstanding programs for Northlanders with developmental disabilities.

Marrant also holds a BBA as well as an MBA from the University of Missouri – Kansas City and a doctorate in Leadership in Higher Education through Baker University in Overland Park, Kansas. He also holds the Senior Professional in Human Resources certification through the Human Resource Certification Institute, as well as the Senior Certified Professional credential through the Society for Human Resource Management. In addition, he is a certified leadership trainer with AchieveGlobal and a graduate of the Society for College and University Planning Strategic Planning Institute.

A past board member and regular presenter for the Kansas City Professional Development Council, Marrant is a founding board member and current president of the Kansas Chapter of the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources. He is the co-host of Omni Human Resource Management’s podcast, Power of People – Higher Education Edition, which examines leadership and human resource topics relevant to higher education.

VSI has provided employment and other services for Northlanders with developmental disabilities since 1967. Employment services include both facility based and community integrated jobs, as well as programs to help those who may not initially qualify for some programs.
