VSI Awarded Three-Year Accreditation

CARF International in 2008 announced that Vocational Services, Inc. has been accredited for a period of three years for its organizational and community employment service programs. The latest accreditation is the fifth consecutive Three-Year Accreditation that the international accrediting body has awarded to VSI.

This accreditation decision represents the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to an organization and shows the organization’s substantial conformance to the CARF standards. An organization receiving a Three-Year Accreditation has put itself through a rigorous peer review process and has demonstrated to a team of surveyors during an on-site visit that its programs and services are of the highest quality, measurable, and accountable.

During this accreditation survey CARF commended VSI for their exemplary conformance to the standards for their innovation in the development and marketing of a line of pet first aid kits. The entrepreneurial model has created varied employment options in the organization for persons with disabilities and the marketing design is a role model for inclusion in the workforce.

In addition VSI received high accolades from CARF in areas of safety, staff retention, program design and delivery, as well as, overall customer satisfaction of services being delivered.

VSI is a nonprofit organization with two facilities in Liberty and one facility located in North Kansas City. It has been providing employment services in the Clay and Platte Counties since 1966.

CARF is an independent, nonprofit accrediting body whose mission is to promote the quality, value, and optimal outcomes of services through a consultative accreditation process that centers on enhancing the lives of the persons served. Founded as well in 1966 as the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, and now known as CARF, the accrediting body establishes consumer-focused standards to help organizations measure and improve the quality of their programs and services.
