Supported and Enclave Employment: Expanding Opportunities Into the Community

With supported employment and enclave employment, Vocational Services provides extended choice to area businesses while offering an expanded array of opportunities for our workers. Both programs place workers in jobs with private, cooperating employers. Both utilize the important assistant of job coaches who help workers get started and stay on track in the more demanding world of competitive employment. In supported employment, workers are placed individually in businesses ranging from hotels, restaurants and manufacturing centers. Enclave employment involves a team of workers such as the widely known enclave at the Clay County Courthouse. All of these programs have received praise. Wesley Allen, a five-year veteran of VSI's supported employment program, was recently named employee of the month at the Airport Hilton Hotel.
