Our Foundation: Parents and Guardians

Vocational Services, Inc. works with many individuals and organizations to provide services for workers with disabilities. Area businesses, other non-profit organizations and our staff are critical components in this work.

None are more important, however, than the parents and guardians of our consumers. VSI in fact was founded nearly 35 years ago by parents who sought the opportunities and fulfillment they knew could come only with employment.

VSI today carries on that tradition­­and retains a critical communication link. The VSI Parent/Guardian Group meets at least quarterly for information, socializing and good food. Sometimes the mood is serious, such as the mock probate court session on a guardianship held in cooperation with an area judge and attorneys. Still other events focus more on old-fashioned fun, with potluck diners and talking around a table. Either way, these meetings and the Parent/Guardian Group as a whole are a critical source of information for VSI staff.
